Malta has recently become a burgeoning hub of blockchain activity in the Mediterranean, often referred to as the ‘crypto island’. With crypto heavyweights such as Binance and Tron looking to relocate to Malta; this small island in between Europe and Africa has big things to offer the blockchain industry. You would be forgiven for wondering, why has this island nation become one of the biggest crypto hubs in the world? An island with a long history of innovation, both in the gaming and casino industries, Malta has a strong track record of embracing new technology. Joseph Muscat, the Prime Minister of Malta, has publicly stated, in front of the UN, that he firmly believes that crypto is the future of money, and he and his government are widely accepting of new blockchain technology. So it’s no surprise that Malta has quickly become one of the most friendly jurisdictions in the world, offering start-ups unparalleled access to a defined regulatory and legal framework, facilitating and encouraging growth.

A clear indicator of blockchains success in Malta is the Malta Blockchain Summit. A huge event with over 5,000 delegates, it’s set to be the centre stage of blockchain technology in Malta. Part of this massive event is the Malta Blockchain Awards, making its inaugural debut this year, a reflection of the growing presence of crypto in Malta.

Companies which have a strong connection with Malta have been nominated for categories such as regulatory services, crypto exchange of the year, ICO of the year and start-up of the year. All nominees, including of course ICO Launch Malta, have been nominated for making an ‘outstanding contribution to blockchain in Malta’. ICO Launch Malta have been working hard to bring blockchain technology to Malta.
