Our CEO, Jan Sammut, just returned from the Blockchain Mediterranean Cruise 2018, organized and hosted by Coinsbank.

The cruise gathered cryptocurrency luminaries and influencers including John McAfee, Charlie Lee, Brock Pierce, Bobby Lee, Roger Ver, and Jimmy Song, as well as regulators and key professionals from around the world.

Jan enjoyed warm Mediterranean breezes and sunshine as the ship sailed from Barcelona with stops in Monaco and Ibiza. He met a range of people from crypto fans to founders and OGs. The vibe on the ship was that ICO regulation is not a bad thing, as it provides a framework within which ICO projects can be safely structured, whilst offering the opportunity to shop around for the best regulatory jurisdiction.

Jan attended an inspiring talk by John Mcafee about the importance of “do no harm” regulation for opening the door to the coming mass adoption of crypto.

Jan also watched a lively and heated debate on the ship’s upper deck. Bitcoin Cash evangelist Roger Ver defended against Jimmy Song’s accusation that BCH is a fiat currency (Roger won!). Jimmy started with a call for a “Lincoln-Douglas-style debate” but predicted, accurately, that the debate would devolve into a Jerry Spring Show style spectacle. Though the debate frequently spiraled out of control, it was at all times entertaining.
